Illegal Immigration and Mass Deportation

Everywhere you look—whether online or in the news—the fear of President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed immigration and deportation policies dominates headlines. Critics paint his plans as extreme, but the conversation has been one-sided, neglecting the very real consequences of unchecked illegal border crossings: crime, human trafficking, and the strain on our nation’s resources.

For years, failed immigration policies have created a crisis at our southern border. This crisis has been exacerbated by the Biden administration's leniency and lack of enforcement, overseen in part by Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tasked with addressing the root causes of illegal immigration. Unfortunately, these policies have incentivized illegal border crossings, creating a humanitarian and security disaster.

The Rule of Law Matters

Common sense tells us that entering a country without proper documentation and bypassing its laws and systems of justice is a violation of sovereignty. Those who cross the border illegally are knowingly breaking the law. While the United States has a proud tradition of granting asylum to those fleeing persecution, not everyone qualifies under our laws. Yet the current system operates as though it must accommodate all, regardless of legitimacy.

This raises an urgent question: Should we continue to allow lawbreaking to persist, tolerating the increase in crime, cartel violence, drug trafficking, and human trafficking in our neighborhoods? Or should we enforce the laws that are already on the books, ensuring that only those who qualify for asylum are allowed to stay? The choice is clear: we must uphold the rule of law.

A Mandate for Action

The American people have grown tired of the chaos at our border. They elected Donald Trump in part because he promised to restore order and enforce immigration laws, including deporting those who do not have legal status. This is not just a policy—it’s a mandate from the electorate. People understand that while America is a land of opportunity, it is also a nation of laws.

Illegal immigrants, by their very nature, have always known they are at risk of deportation. This is not a new concept, and it should come as no surprise that a "Day of Reckoning" would eventually arrive. The alternative—turning a blind eye—only encourages more illegal crossings and deepens the crisis.

The Economic Impact

At a time when Americans are enduring some of the toughest economic challenges in recent memory, we must prioritize the needs of our citizens. Resources are finite, and every dollar allocated to support individuals who entered the country illegally is a dollar not spent on struggling American families, veterans, or infrastructure. California and other states advocating for "sanctuary" policies are effectively choosing to deplete resources meant for their citizens to shield those who broke the law. This is unacceptable.

Compassion and Enforcement Can Coexist

Compassion does not require lawlessness. Those who qualify for asylum under our laws should be granted refuge. However, those who do not qualify must be deported. A functional immigration system is essential for national security, economic stability, and the preservation of American values.

The United States cannot afford to ignore this issue any longer. The time has come to enforce our laws, secure our borders, and restore order. This is not just a political decision—it’s a necessary step toward safeguarding the future of our nation.
