An Attack on one is an Attack on all

My fellow Republicans, I write this with so much sadness at the state of our Republican Party.

At a time when we should be growing, strengthening and unifying, there are some who feel the need to destroy our Party from within.

I first saw a post by Rep. Jason Villalba (District 114) on Facebook, in which he brings to light a tasteless post by Kaufman County Tea Party member, Ray Myers.

The image is intended to associate the Representative with a monkey, but what he is actually doing, is an old trick used to degrade and dehumanize his target.

Much like the Socialists/Nazis created propaganda images and spread them among their people, ie. the Germans depicting the Jews as evil, diseased peasants, Myers does his best to cast Villalba as a brainless, howling monkey.

This is the first step and a critical one in the psychological warfare taking place within the Republican Party.

Minorities must be degraded and discredited at every turn.

Why?  Because otherwise we might actually get involved and run for office.  Unfortunately, some just can't stand the thought of that.

Since, in Texas, it's crucial to gain Hispanic Conservative voters, one might think this sort of degradation is self-defeating.

After all, if we're trying to grow the Party by including Conservative Hispanics, Blacks and Asians, then why would we compare one of the very few Hispanic Representatives to a monkey?  Myers has not only insulted Rep. Villalba, but he's insulted all of us.

I realize some in the Republican Party don't think we need this injection of Conservatism from the ranks of the minority community.  Too bad.  The Republican Party is not an exclusive club, and people like Myers aren't the gatekeepers.  The Party is there for us all if we want it, and the truth is, we do need to reach these new voters before they're snatched up by the Democrats.

I don't really know Ray Myers, but he owes Jason Villalba an apology. In fact, he owes us all an apology.

A side note, Ray Myers is supporting James Dickey for Texas Republican Chairman.  What does that tell you?  I think it speaks volumes and is the exact reason I support Rick Figueroa.

UPDATE ....  Here is a response from Ray Myers
Duke,For the record—I took the post down shortly after I placed it on FB. I did this of my own admission. I took a 2nd look and removed the post thinking that it was in bad taste. The thought of racism never crossed my mind and that is not the case. However, when the left gets the opportunity – they will play the Race Card. In addition, Adriana did call me out and make a charge of Racism a couple of years back—That charge as I recall was concerning vetting those illegals who cross our Southern Border. I admit it—I want to welcome all immigrants who come to America legally, those who come across without permission should return and come the legal way. I don’t consider that racist—If she does, she is welcome to her opinion.
The deal is, if I make a mistake I admit it and move on. I do not run and hide from my problems. However, I will say that I agree with my conservative friends concerning the antics of Rep Jason Villalba. If he is going to act like a clown with name calling and bully tactics he should also take a 2nd look at his actions. See an example: State Rep Villalba refers to our Texas Freedom Caucus ( our 85th Session Hero’s) as Jackass’s and a band of Idiot Pirates. These guys and girls are his Republican colleagues—It is totally up to him if he wants to retract his statements.
Sorry for the Post!
