Libertarians reject Ted Cruz, say he is not True Libertarian

A recent article I wrote, End the Libertarian Takeover in Texas GOP, spurred a passionate conversation online from several Libertarians who claimed Senator Ted Cruz, whom many of them supported in the last Republican Presidential Primary, is no longer their candidate.

In my original post, I talked about the surge of the Tea Party and Libertarians entering the Republican Party, intent on infiltrating and overtaking the GOP.  I also mentioned how many of them came in supporting Ted Cruz for his US Senate race.

In our latest Presidential Primary, many Libertarians shed their usual support for Paul and fell in line with Cruz.  When Ted Cruz lost, those same Libertarian supporters, many of whom were #NeverTrump, worked against our Republican Nominee to instead, free the delegates at the National Convention so they could select a new Candidate, Ted Cruz.  One of those people leading that charge against our Republican Nominee, Donald Trump, was James Dickey, the current Texas GOP Chairman.

Some may wonder how it is the Texas GOP allowed itself to be overrun with Libertarians.  I know it happened because they supported Ted Cruz, the same candidate many Republicans supported.  With Ted Cruz being the common thread, loyal GOP voters welcomed the Tea Party and Libertarians with open arms, not knowing their true intentions.

What I have come to learn, based on the countless and immediate reaction from Libertarians, is they have abandoned Ted Cruz.  They feel misled, that Cruz is not a True Libertarian, and therefore, has been rejected by real Libertarians.

They were adamant about this.  They made it seem as if they were embarrassed for ever voting for Cruz.

Now, with the Libertarians in control of the Texas GOP, with a Chairman in place who has worked to strengthen the Libertarian movement, they have no loyalty to Cruz or any non-Libertarian leaning elected officials.  Essentially, they are exactly where they want to be.

Enter Cindy Asche, a lifelong Republican activist with a successful career in the business world and someone who has seen the Libertarian movement for what it is, a takeover.

She has called out James Dickey on numerous occasions, from his SEC Hedge Fund fraud case to his misrepresentation of Texas GOP fundraising results, and even his misleading of the SREC members regarding the status of Office Staff, which led to his narrow 1 vote victory to become Chairman.

In response to Cindy Asche's charges, in typical fashion, the Libertarians try to deflect, confuse and blame others for the actions of Dickey, but the problem is James Dickey.  The problem is our Texas GOP is more divided now than ever.

With Democrats pouring millions of dollars into Texas, with several operatives combing our state looking for more voters, the last thing we need is a fractured Party, with infighting brought on by people who haven't been loyal to the Party from the beginning.  They would rather lose elections now if it means they can place their candidates later.

The only thing they've ever had was a support base for Ted Cruz, and that gave them leverage in Texas politics.  Now that we know they've turned on Cruz, they have nothing but spite for our Party and our fellow Republicans.

Texas Republicans have a clear choice at the upcoming State Convention.  My hope is, for the future of Texas, they put an end to the Libertarian takeover of the GOP and never allow it to happen again.  As I've said before if their Libertarian policies are so great, why isn't their Libertarian Party more successful?

Having a successful, strong, financially stable Texas GOP is hard enough.  The last thing we need are infiltrators tearing us apart from within.

  1. What you have demonstrated here is your lack of understanding in the difference between Libertarians who are members of the Libertarian Party and libertarian-leaning Republicans. You seem oblivious to anything not stated in comments on your blog. The liberty-loving Republicans who elected Ted Cruz still love Ted Cruz. The members of the Libertarian Party never supported Ted Cruz. You've demonstrated your ignorance here.

    1. Thanks for the comment. But in all your wisdom, you can't see the obvious assault on our Party. I can't help that. I too am a liberty-loving Republican, but I'm not trying to "infiltrate" and take-over the Party from the inside, as so many of your liberty-loving republicans have said. I do know the difference between the two, and I stand by my observations and recollection of people, statements and facts.
